D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Atlanta Falcons have rescheduled interviews of Teryl Austin and Todd Bowles due to the passing of team owner Arthur Blank’s mother, Molly. Austin was scheduled to interview for the team’s vacant coaching position today, but will be delayed until Friday. Bowles was scheduled to interview on Thursday, but will now be rescheduled for Saturday.
Molly Blank passed away earlier today at the age of 99 and her funeral will be held on Thursday according to Ledbetter. Blank’s mother is credited with instilling within him the entrepreneurial spirit. Molly was a stay-at-home mother at the time of the passing of her husband, Max Blank, in 1957 when Arthur was only 15 years old. Max, a pharmacist, had started a mail-order drug business. Instead of selling, Molly took over the small business and eventually turned it into a multi-million dollar company, Sherry Pharmaceutical.
Austin is currently the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, while Bowles serves the same role with the Arizona Cardinals.
