Ex-Saint Grant has interest in Falcons
D. Orlando Ledbetter of the AJC reports that former New Orleans Saints defensive end Charles Grant has interest in the Falcons. No word on whether that interest is reciprocated by the Falcons themselves, but Atlanta is among three teams that Grant is interested in playing for.
Grant was released by the Saints on March 4, after finishing the season on injured reserve with a torn triceps. Ross Tucker of SI.com reports that he should be healthy by mid-April. He played eight seasons with the Saints after being a 1st round pick in 2002. He has been bothered by injuries in each of the last three. Last year he started in all 16 games for the Saints and finished with 5.5 sacks. Grant also may face a future four-game suspension by the league for violating their substance abuse policy in relation to the supplement StarCaps, although that has been deferred as of now. Grant was also indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from a February 2008 in which he was stabbed in the neck during a melee that ended with a pregnant woman being shot and killed.
