FalcFans Podcast – Ep. 125 “Get Some Rest, Jeanna”

FalcFans Podcast

Allen and I are back this week with a pair of guests, including Jeanna Thomas of the Falcoholic and NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling, for a jam-packed episode talking about the Atlanta Falcons!

We chat first with Jeanna to get her insights on the first nine days of training camp. Jeanna gives us the skinny on a bevy of Falcons players, including Vic Beasley, Justin Hardy, Ra’Shede Hageman, James Stone, Phillip Adams, Jacob Tamme, Ricardo Allen, and many, many more. Jeanna discusses the differences that Dan Quinn has brought to Falcons training camp, why his simplified scheme is benefiting current players and what Friday Night Lights is really all about. The new Falcons depth chart, Matt Bosher’s beard, Cam Newton’s throwdown in Carolina, Ohio State, Dezmen Southward’s chances of making the roster, Terron Ward and expectations for the Falcons’ first preseason action against the Tennessee Titans is also discussed during the course of our conversation with Jeanna.

Before talking with Chris (at roughly 1:00:00), Allen and I share our rankings of the top 15 pass-rushers in the league, factoring in 4-3 defensive ends, 3-4 outside linebackers and defensive tackles.

Finally, Chris joins the show (at roughly 1:19:00) to give his thoughts on the glut of bad fantasy football writing out in the world, Mike Smith’s demise, how relevant the Falcons can be to the national media and what Kyle Shanahan brings to the table as a play-caller. Whether the Falcons’ running backs will break, comparing Odell Beckham vs. Julio Jones, and if Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos are the league’s most compelling storyline entering 2015 are other topics we hit with Chris.

Before the show is wrapped up, Allen and I pay our respects to Steve Smith and compare him to Roddy White.
