Allen and I return this week with The Falcoholic’s Charles McDonald to recap the Atlanta Falcons’ Week Two win over the New York Giants and preview next week’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
In recapping the Giants game, we give love to Leonard Hankerson, Jacob Tamme, Nate Stupar, O’Brien Schofield, Adrian Clayborn and of course the great Kroy Biermann! Also with Charles on the show, we of course have to devote a full section of this podcast to praising Vic Beasley. During the course of our conversation, we weigh why we think Tevin Coleman has been a bit more effective than Devonta Freeman, despite the latter’s solid effort against the Giants. We also discuss Coleman’s recent rib injury and whether the Falcons need to pick up another running back option off the street and who that could potentially be.
We discuss some of the upcoming challenges for the Falcons’ offensive line in the coming weeks and defend cornerback Robert Alford’s honor. I go on a rant about the excessive criticism of Alford’s play against the Giants and in previous games.
When our topic switches to the upcoming game against the Cowboys, we ponder whether it is potentially a bigger trap game than the Giants given the recent extent of injuries that have ravaged the Cowboys roster. We debate whether the Cowboys offensive line is as good as it’s reputed to be and whether that team’s defense is underrated.
Allen finishes the show by sharing his experience in the press box while attending the Giants game. He talks up the catering at the game while also sharing his dismay over some awkwardness inside the locker room. He discusses his interactions with Thomas Dimtiroff, Arthur Blank, Vaughn McClure, Brooks Reed, Matt Ryan and of course everyone’s favorite beat writer, D. Orlando Ledbetter!
