The Bangor Daily News reports that at least one Falcons representative was on hand for the University of Maine’s pro day on Wednesday March 19. That rep was the team’s northeast regional scout Bruce Plummer. Plummer was among a handful of NFL scouts on hand to view four prospective NFL players from Maine.
The main attraction was tight end Matt Mulligan. Mulligan measured 6’5″ 258 pounds, did 34 bench reps of 225 pounds, and measured a 35.5-inch vertical leap. He also ran a 4.89 40-yard dash time. This past season, he caught 13 passes for 157 yards (12.1 avg) and 2 touchdowns. Mulligan is noted for his blocking ability and is ranked by NFLDraftScout.com as the 29th best tight end in this year’s class.
None of the Maine players are expected to be drafted, but all could be pursued as free agents following the draft.
