The Falcons announced two roster moves today, signing safety Matt Giordano and cutting cornerback Tye Hill. Giordano was cut earlier this month by the Green Bay Packers. Hill was acquired via trade from the St. Louis Rams this past summer but played sparingly during the course of the season.
Giordano appeared in 5 games with the Packers, playing mostly on special teams. Prior to this past season, Giordano spent four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts as a reserve safety but was cut by the Colts this past September before being picked up by the Packers. Giordano served primarily on special teams for the Colts, but did get opportunities in past years to fill in as a reserve strong safety in the absence of starter Bob Sanders.
Hill played in 8 games this past year, starting 3 of them after the Falcons sent a seventh round pick to the Rams on September 1. The highlight of his season was in his second start against the Washington Redskins, he returned an interception 62 yards for a touchdown.
