Falcons add Thomas to practice squad

September 17th, 2013

Linebacker Chase Thomas announced via his twitter that he has been signed to the Falcons practice squad. Likely indicating that other roster moves are imminent as the Falcons deal with the three vacant spots on their roster following the placement of Kroy Biermann, Bradie Ewing, and Sean Weatherspoon on injured reserve.

Thomas, an undrafted linebacker out of Stanford, was signed by the New Orleans Saints after the draft. He was waived by the Saints in August, and claimed by the Oakland Raiders. But he was cut by the Raiders in the final cutdown.

A four-year starter that earned first team All-Pac 12 honors twice at Stanford and All-American honors as a junior. As a senior, he recorded 71 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. As a junior, he had 52 tackles, 17.5 for loss, and 8.5 sacks. For his career, he had 229 tackles, 50.5 tackles for loss, 27.5 sacks, 1 interception, 4 pass breakups, and 9 forced fumbles.
