Jeff Schultz of the AJC reports that Falcons head coach Mike Smith is among team representatives at today’s Georgia Tech pro day. Typically, the Falcons historically have shown a strong presence at pro days of local schools like Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, and it appears this year is no different.
Prominent prospects at Tech include wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, defensive end Derrick Morgan, running back Jonathan Dwyer, and safety Morgan Burnett. Thomas will not be working out at the pro day due a broken foot he suffered in February. Morgan is likely to draw significant interest from the Falcons considering he’s projected as a Top 15 pick in many mock drafts and plays a position perceived as a high need for the Falcons. Morgan did not go through drills, decided to rest on his results from the Combine, but did go through positional drills. He did not bench at the Combine, but did run a 4.70 40.
TFY Draft Insider reports some of the early results from this morning’s pro day:
Burnett posted an official 4.45 40 time, 39.5 vertical jump, 11-foot broad jump, 3.94 short shuttle, and 6.87 three-cone drill. Jonathan Dwyer improved on his 40 time clocking an official 4.55. Also guard Cord Howard measured in at 6’4″ 314 pounds, ran a 5.1 40-yard dash, 30-inch vertical, and did 25 bench reps of 225 pounds. Reportedly, Morgan looked a bit winded after going through drills according to sources.
