Falcons check out a pair of TCU linebackers
D. Orlando Ledbetter of the AJC reports that the Falcons worked out a pair of TCU prospects on Thursday. Linebackers Jerry Hughes and Daryl Washington were the targets of the Falcons interest.
The team conducted the workout on Thursday in Fort Worth at TCU’s campus. The team checked out the pair as outside linebacker prospects. Hughes was a defensive end and pass rush specialist, while Washington played inside linebacker during his collegiate career with the Horned Frogs.
Hughes is an undersized pass rusher at 6’2″ 255. He was highly productive his last two seasons where he combined for 26.5 sacks, and 36 tackles for loss. He ran a 4.69 40 at the Combine, added a 6.99 3-cone drill, and a 4.15 short shuttle which was best among defensive linemen.
Washington was very productive as a senior, finishing with 109 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 3 interceptions. He impressed at the Combine with a 40 time of 4.66 as he measured 6’2″ 230. He was able to improve upon his 40 time at TCU’s pro day last week clocking a 4.59 40, and also adding a 7.09 3-cone drill.
