Falcons check out Wolfe; schedule workout
Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that among all the teams on hand at UNLV’s pro day on Thursday, the Falcons have shown the most interest in wide receiver Ryan Wolfe. Wolfe was among several prospects that the Falcons were reportedly interested in during last month’s Scouting Combine.
During the workout, Wolfe tweaked his hamstring, preventing him from running the 40-yard dash. But he did manage 15 bench reps. According to Ryan Greene of the Las Vegas Sun, Wolfe also recorded a 9 foot-10 inch broad jump and 33.5-inch vertical jump.
Wolfe was originally scheduled for a private workout at UNLV with Falcons head coach Mike Smith and GM Thomas Dimitroff, but it has been changed to more of a meet and greet due to his injury. Wolfe hopes that he will get another chance to workout in front of teams and scouts within the next two weeks.
Also on hand at the pro day were center Joe Hawley and linebacker Jason Beauchamp, who improved on their numbers from the Combine. Hawley (6’3″ 297) had a 31.5-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 8 feet, 11 inches. Beauchamp (6’3″ 244) ran a 40 time in 4.71 seconds and did 30 bench reps. Safety Marquel Martin also got to shine for the first time for scouts, recording a 38.5-inch vertical jump, 10 feet-1o inch broad jump, and 4.40 40 for the 5’11” 200 defensive back.
Ex-Browns linebacker Beau Bell, who was a fourth round pick in 2008 was also present at the pro day. He is currently a free agent and hoping to get another crack in the league.
