Falcons cut seven

September 4th, 2009

The team announced the release of seven players as they work to get their roster down to 53 players before tomorrow’s deadline. Among the releases were safety Eric Brock, cornerbacks Glenn Sharpe and Tony Tiller, offensive linemen Adam Speer, Ryan Stanchek, and Ben Wilkerson, and wide receiver Chandler Williams. The Falcons still have to make 13 more cuts before getting their roster limit down to 53 players.

Brock, Sharpe, and Williams all spent time on the team’s practice squad last season. Wilkerson played in 13 games last year as the team’s reserve center, but seemingly lost his spot when the team signed Brett Romberg this past spring. Tiller played last year with the Georgia Force in the Arena Football League, while Speer and Stanchek are undrafted rookie free agents.
