Falcons look at coaching candidates

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Falcons are expected to begin a round of interviews for their vacant head coaching position. Interim coach Emmitt Thomas was able to lead the Falcons to a win in their season finale, but he is not considered a serious candidate to take over the position permanently.

According to Glazer, the Falcons will seek permission to interview Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, and Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell this week. He also reports that Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Smith, and previously mentioned candidate Mike Singletary may also sit down for interviews.
