Falcons looking at Hoosier lineman

March 19th, 2010

Chris Steuber of Scout.com reports that the Falcons will hold a workout sometime next week with Indiana offensive tackle Rodger Saffold. The workout will be on campus in Bloomington, Indiana.

Saffold is one of the faster rising prospects in this year’s draft, coming off a solid showing in all-star games and at the Combine. He has risen on many boards from a middle round pick to a potential late first round selection according to Steuber.

At 6’4″ 316 he has the size and athleticism to play tackle, but also could move inside to guard. He had the second best broad jump (9 feet, 5 inches), third best 3-cone drill (7.42 seconds) among offensive linemen, and also had a solid showing in the vertical jump (29.5 inches) and short shuttle (4.67 seconds). He also ran a 5.22 40 and did 27 bench reps of 225 pounds.
