The NFL released the preseason schedule yesterday, revealing the four preseason opponents the Atlanta Falcons will face and the order they will face them in. The league is set to announce the regular-season schedule later this month on April 17, after which the preseason schedule will be finalized with firm dates.
The Falcons will open up their preseason slate hosting the Tennessee Titans during the first week which is loosely scheduled between August 13 and 17. It will mark the third consecutive summer in which the Falcons and Titans have squared off with the Titans winning both of their previous two meetings.
The following week the Falcons will travel to New York to face the Jets between August 20 and 23. The Falcons last played the Jets during the preseason in 2007, resulting in a 16-31 loss. Their last win over the Jets came in 2001.
The Falcons will stay on the road for the third preseason week between August 27 and 30 to face the Miami Dolphins. The Falcons have featured in heavy preseason rotation the past several years, facing off against each other in four of the past five summers. The Falcons have won three of those games, including a 16-10 preseason-opening win last summer. As the third preseason game, it is likely to feature both teams’ starters getting the majority of reps.
The Falcons will cap their preseason schedule against the Baltimore Ravens in the Georgia Dome on September 3. The Ravens have become a fixture on the Falcons’ preseason schedule, featuring matchups in nine of the past 12 summers. The Falcons did not play the Ravens last summer, but have lost four straight preseason games dating back to 2009. Their last presason win over the Ravens was a 10-9 victory in 2008.
