D. Orlando Ledbetter of the AJC reports that the Falcons sent representatives, as expected, to see University of Georgia prospects work out today. Chief among them were Director of Player Personnel Les Snead to see standout WR A.J. Green, DE Justin Houston, OL Clint Boling, and LB Akeem Dent among others work out in front of scouts from 29 other teams.
There was no confirmation about whether the Falcons were among the teams in attendance of the other pro days being held today: Iowa State, Mississippi, Nevada, and South Dakota State.
The most impressive prospect for Iowa State was TE Collin Franklin. The 6-6/256-pound tight end did 28 bench reps of 225 pounds, clocked a 4.69 40 time, and leapt 34.5 inches and 10 feet, 4 inches on the vertical and broad jumps, respectively.
According to NFL.com’s Gil Brandt, scouts from 18 teams (other sources report up to 24 teams) were present to see Ole Miss prospects like DT Jerrell Powe and QB Jeremiah Masoli work out. Powe, reportedly was impressive.
Twenty-five teams were present at Nevada’s pro day to see QB Colin Kaepernick complete 36 of 38 passes in his workout, trying to push his stock into first round status. Also on the slate for Nevada is TE Virgil Green and DE/LB Dontay Moch.
Scouts from six teams were on hand at South Dakota State, hoping to find a diamond in the rough. Potentially that diamond is TE Colin Cochart as their top prospect, the 32nd ranked tight end according to NFLDraftScout.com. According to Bill Huber of Scout.com, sources indicate that Cochart clocked a 4.70 40 time and did 29 bench reps.
Again, outside the Georgia pro day, there has been no confirmation that the Falcons sent representatives to the other five schools.
