The Atlanta Falcons announced today that they re-signed offensive guard Eric Lefeld and waived wide receiver Bernard Reedy to make room for him. Lefeld was waived by the Falcons on Sunday as part of their effort to get down to the 75-man roster limit by Tuesday. His return is likely due to the Falcons wanting to shore up their depth for their preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens tomorrow evening.
Lefeld was originally signed as an undrafted rookie this past year out of Cincinnati. After spending his entire collegiate career at left tackle, he moved to left guard for the Falcons.
Reedy was an undrafted free agent out of Toledo last year. Last summer he was one of the early stars of training camp, yet couldn’t translate it to production as a wide receiver in the preseason games, leading him to start the 2014 season on the team’s practice squad. There he remained and was brought back this year but did not build off it, as he was quickly surpassed by Nick Williams as the team’s go-to option as a reserve receiver and return specialist.
