The Atlanta Falcons rookie left tackle Jake Matthews has been ruled out for this Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, having missed an entire week of practice with an ankle injury. Matthews suffered that injury at the end of the first half in the Falcons season-opening win over the New Orleans Saints, and did not play in the second half. Falcons were hopeful that Matthews would be able to return to practice today on a limited basis, but he was unable to and thus will not play this Sunday.

Also appearing on the injury report is wide receiver Roddy White, who was limited in practices on Wednesday and Thursday with a knee injury. But White was able to fully participate today, and thus is listed as probable. Earlier this week, ESPN’s Vaughn McClure shed light on White’s knee injury that has been a little concerning to him since he had it drained in the offseason. White was also given a few days off during training camp to rest the knee. White banged his knee into the turf on the same play that Matthews was injured on against the Saints, but was able to return to the game in the second half.

Notable also this week, is that defensive tackle Corey Peters (Achilles) did not appear on the injury report, thus indicating that he was full go in all three days of practice. Peters was able to fully participate in last week’s practices, but was inactive last Sunday. It remains to be seen if the Falcons will activate Peters for this week’s game in Cincinnati. Peters has been recovering form a torn Achilles tendon suffered last December.

For the Bengals, tight end Tyler Eifert (elbow) and wide receiver Marvin Jones (foot) were ruled out for the game, having missed the entire week of practice. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict was listed as questionable due to a concussion. He was held out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but was limited on Friday. Other notable injuries include defensive tackle Geno Atkins (feet), cornerback Darqueze Dennard (hip), defensive end Carlos Dunlap (hamstring), wide receiver A.J. Green (foot), defensive end Margus Hunt (ribs), center Mike Pollak (knee), and offensive tackle Andre Smith (shoulder), all of whom were listed as probable having practiced fully today. Atkins was held out of Wednesday’s practice, while Green was held out on Thursday.
