Falcons to work out Black

property of University of New MexicoJohn Murphy of Yahoo! Sports reports that New Mexico linebacker Quincy Black is scheduled to work out for the Atlanta Falcons at a future date.

Last year, Black recorded 114 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 interceptions, playing a hybrid linebacker/safety position that was famously played by Brian Urlacher during his career at New Mexico. Most experts believe he will play outside linebacker in the NFL, and is rated as a middle round prospect by NFL Draft Countdown and NFL Draft Scout.

At the Combine in Indianapolis, Black measured in at 6’2″ 250 pounds and ran a 4.42 40-yard dash, the fastest among all the linebacker prospects. He also had a 41.5-inch vertical leap and 10’4″ broad jump, also bests among linebackers, showing he is one of the best athletes at that position in this year’s draft.

According to Murphy, Black also has private workouts with the Buccaneers, Bears, Panthers, and Rams.
