Adam Schefter reports that Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson visited the Falcons on April 16. Peterson is considered one of the elite prospects in this year’s draft, and the top running back prospect.
At 6’2″ 217 pounds with 4.40 40-speed he possesses an excellent blend of size and speed. As a true freshman, he emerged quickly on the college scene rushing for 1925 yards and 15 touchdowns, and finished second in the Heisman voting for that year. He hasn’t matched those totals the past two years, combining for 2120 yards and 26 touchdowns his sophomore and recent junior seasons, partly due to injuries. He missed 7 games this past season due to a broken collarbone, and has battle with shoulder and ankle injuries in the past.
Many draft experts believe Peterson could go in the top three picks this season, or his injury concerns could drop him out of the top ten.
