Falcons work out Forte

NFL.com’s Gil Brandt reports that Tulane running back Matt Forte will perform in a private workout with the Falcons today. Forte has been one of the more impressive running backs since the end of the collegiate season, earning Senior Bowl MVP honors and performing well in drills at last month’s Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. There, Forte ran a 4.46 40-yard dash time and did 23 bench reps of 225 pounds. That only caps off a great final year at Tulane, where he finished second in the nation with 2,127 rushing yards and third with 23 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes. Forte measured 6’1″ 221 pounds at Tulane’s pro day last week.

Forte was one of several prospects that Falcons showed interest in at January’s Senior Bowl.

  1. Hey, I like this kid, Matt Forte…A LOT!!! Reminds me of an O. J. Simpson type, the way he sort of “lumbers” along until he sees a hole, then turns on the after-burners. I would LOVE to see the Falcons get him, just to have another back-up running back…you can never tell when one of our starters might go down. And thanks for sharing the video on him. It was an eye-opener for me.
