Important off-season dates

Postby Pudge » Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:48 pm

February 22-28: Combine in Indianapolis.
February 23: Deadline for teams to declare Franchise/Transition free agents. Teams can also begin to cut players.
March 2: Deadline for extending tenders to RFAs and EFAs.
March 3: Free Agency and trading starts.
March 20: Voluntary off-season conditioning period begins.
April 21: Deadline for signing RFAs.
April 29-30: NFL Draft.
August 29: Cutdown to 65.
September 2: Cutdown to 53
September 3: Practice squad.

June 1st is another important date since after which teams can cut players and dead money will be spread over 2 years instead of 1, but that will only occur if the CBA is extended by then. If not, then dead money counts immediately and cannot be pushed into 2007 (uncapped year).
