Alexander to Carolina?

Postby dirtybirdnw » Tue Feb 14, 2006 10:42 am

It could be a power play to get more money out of Seattle but interesting news from local sports talk. Alexander is on record hob-nobbing with the Panther players over in Hawaii and according to him he liked the players. So much as to note in a round-about way that he would be interested in signing with Carolina.

Considering how bad we are against stopping the run the balance of power in the NFC South shifts hard towards Carolina. Here's hoping that Seattle at least Franchises him if possible or re-signs him.

I dont buy that at all. Last year the Eagles were hob nobbing with Mushn Muhammad, made him pose in the teams photos at Hawaii, all the papers reported Muhammad was a lock to go to Philly. Yeah,......he signed with Chicago.

I really dont care who hangs out with who at the probowl.

Reports are that Steve Smith and DeLo were inseperable. But neither of them is going anywhere.

Players have friends/make friends from other teams.

Bad comparison vickis. Neither DeLo nor Smith are free agents. Shaun Alexander is.

I see Alexander remaining in Seattle. He's kidding himself if any team is going to offer him a signing bonus of more than say $12 million.

The Panthers could throw half that (if not less) at DeShaun Foster and use one of their first day draft picks on a RB.

It's all just a ploy. Of course the Panthers are interested, who wouldn't be in the league MVP? But when Shaun's agent faxes that first contract offer to the Panthers front office, they are just gonna ball up the piece of paper, throw in the trash, and somehow manage to lose that guy's phone number.

He'll wind up back in Seattle. The Seahawks are planning for life without him because they have a well-managed front office so that's the smart thing to do. If it comes down to Hutch vs. Alexander, they'll keep Hutch. But unlike the sitch in Indy where it may be Reggie Wayne vs. Edge, it shouldn't be an ultimatum situation in Seattle since they have plenty of cap room and not a lot of pressing needs on that team.

...plus the fact that like Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson, Shaun Alexander runs behind one of the best OL's in football. Put him on the Texans and lets see how many touchdowns he scores.

I wouldnt be suprised to see Seattle go either way with Alexander. They can get a running back much cheaper who can put up decent numbers, or they can spend 80 million on keeping him, who they often referred to as too soft, and not a powerful enough runner.

I just think that its funny that Arizona signed Warner to a 3 year deal. What a bad move.

I'd like to see ALexander play for someone else just to see if he's as good as advertised or if he just benefits from a line that makes him look better than he really is....
