Light signed a two-year deal last summer, which means he has another year left on his contract. But he's expected to retire, and has been mum about his plans since the Super Bowl. But the Patriots appear ready to move on without him.
He'll either be cut because the Patriots believe he'll retire, or he'll simply retire. Unlikely that he'll be cut and then reinvigorated to give it one more go with a brand new NFL team.
