It's all going to depend on the play of the corners. Aggressive, blitzing schemes only work if you can trust your corners to be on islands. If the team gets little to no dropoff from Grimes, Asante is Asante, and Robinson is an improvement in the slot, then things are definitely looking up for the defense.

Then the question is going to be on 3rd & 9 with the Saints driving, are we going to be able to get after the QB and get them off the field...

Well this has to be a plus when you compare to the last few years. I would have defined us as a super tough, gritty, bend but don't break D, but also that we didn't collect enough sacks or stop better teams pass games.

I would always watch us, and say well we're playing over our head on talent just b/c of how tough we played. If we have the same toughness, but get more aggressive on schemes, that should result in a better D. More turnovers and disruption. I think the corners are fine unless someone goes down.

The better D's, even though they're mostly 34, you think disruption and chaos. Thats a good thing. I like that we can hopefully be more multiple going forward, like teams like NE do now. When have you thought that about our D the last 4 or so years?
