From ESPN Rumors:

Blount on the trading block?
12:28PM ET
LeGarrette Blount | Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free-agent running back D.J. Ware on Saturday. He was cut by the New York Giants on Friday. He can pass-block well for a running back and knows Bucs offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan from their days with the Giants, when Sullivan coached QBs and WRs.

In those terms, the signing makes sense for the Bucs. However, they already had high-upside rookie Doug Martin, former starter LeGarrette Blount and Michael Smith on their backfield roster.

When considering the depth-chart angle of the signing, ESPN NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas wonders if the writing is on the wall for Blount:

Catching up on NFC South roster moves

"The Bucs already seemed set at running back with Doug Martin, LeGarrette Blount and Michael Smith. Ware has history with offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan from their time together in New York. Makes you wonder if the Bucs might be looking to trade Blount."

In some parallel bizarro Universe, there is a Falcon team that prefers players like Blount. He's a low character guy that pings red and loud on the Falcons Filter, so from that perspective I would understand why the Falcons would avoid him at all costs.

But from an on-field perspective, Blount is basically a younger version of Turner in his prime. He can't catch or block particularly well, but he has relatively fresh legs and capable of being that goalline/short-yardage/4th grinder that everybody is hoping Turner is still able to be. And who knows the Falcons locker room could be strong enough to keep him in check...

Obviously, it's doubtful the Bucs would trade him in the division.

Not saying the Falcons should/would do this, but it's at least something that should be given about 18 seconds of thought...
