Browns signed CB Chris Owens, formerly of the Falcons.
New Cleveland coach Rob Chudzinski knows Owens from the NFC South, but we're skeptical the 26-year-old corner will help the Browns. An oft-abused (and benched) slot corner in Atlanta, Owens lost his nickel back job to Robert McClain last year. Mostly a dime back in 2012, Owens managed 22 tackles and a forced fumble.

Well we lost a valuable special teams player, which presumably will be replaced in the draft. But Franks doesn't play ST and if McCLain is playing nickel, he's not going to get a ton of reps.

Owens was never a good slot corner, but he was serviceable on the outside, and it's always nice to have someone there that you know has experience playing in the slot in the event of several injuries.
