New Commissioner

Postby widetrak21 » Wed May 24, 2006 11:34 am

- Hopefully Goddell remains the fav, and McKay stays put.

A headhunting firm has completed a survey of what the league's 32 owners want in their new commissioner. Once that report has been distributed to the owners, the commissioner search committee can begin interviewing candidates. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue wants to be out of office by July, but he's hoping a decision on his replacement can be made before the start of the regular season.

I think they just set a deadline as well, Mid-August I believe....I can't see McKay getting it.....Goddell has been groomed for the job, and he is the best qualified.

Well if that's true BB, the NFL has been terrible with deadlines lately. Truth of the matter is I'd be shocked if a new commish was named before the end of this season. In fact, I'd be still surprised if a new commish was residing prior to the Super Bowl.

I too believe Gooddell is the frontrunner, but I don't think McKay is too far behind. The interesting thing will be if a 3rd candidate rises up over the next few months and who that person could be. I couldn't even begin to speculate because it'll probably be someone out of left field.

Saw that rumor and laughed. The media is just a joke sometimes. It was even rumored LOL Condaleeza Rice was mentioned as a candidate?

I highly doubt anybody that hasn't worked as a GM or in the league office will be a serious candidate. Someone like Gene Upshaw or Ravens GM Dick Cass to me are real 3rd candidates...

Bush - For the love of everything holy, not another Bush, anywhere, the white house, governor, commish or the saints. Dick Cass would be the #3.
