I wish that the Falcons would get rid of D-Block

Postby RobertAP » Tue Oct 01, 2013 1:33 pm

I find it silly/stupid that our struggling defense is keeping this stupid video series hanging around. If the players want to screw around for the fans to see, at least get those players playing good football first.

I don't have any problem with it. It's a way to let of steam in the grind of the regular season. Regardless of how well they play should not determine the existence of the show.

Now granted, I haven't watched any of this year's episodes yet...

What I don't like is Arthur Blank acting like he's due a Super Bowl or the players acting like it. They talked themselves into the fact they thought everything would be like last year!! Now I do put that thought on Coach Smith .... Arthur may start it but Coach Smith has to let them know nobody in the league cares about last year!! If the year is a failure without a Super Bowl then what has the past 4 games been??

I just think its bad " football business" for the team. You have to earn it every year;
and the same with winning a playoff game!!

It may get some people to renew tickets but then they feel kinda hosed if the team is average and ordinary.

A fair criticism Cyril. I do think much like the 2011 season, the Falcons didn't really approach this season thinking that it was a brand new season. They sort of thought they could rest on their laurels and sorta stroll back into the playoffs and Super Bowl. Go in to cruise mode during the regular season.

Hopefully this adversity they've seen through the first 4 games will wake them up. It seemed to in 2011, although they were aided by a slackening of the schedule. They won't get such aid in the 2nd half of this year.

Not to mention that the show has sucked this year.

The team from 98 did the same thing, Cyril. Everybody's favorite Falcon, Eugene Robinson, tried to warn the players when they all showed up at training camp with an "I got this" attitude that it wasn't like that. I remember reading it in the AJC during camp and we all recall how that year went. Everything from he SB or Bust rhetoric to the 0-4 pre-season to TG's special arrangements in regard to the off season smacked of a sense of entitlement. This is probably the greatest challenge of the Smith Era since his first season. We will see how well they circle the wagons.

As to D-Block, they miss their MC, M. Peterson, but you cannot re-sign him just for that! To drop the show would be to show panic. Putting everybody on half rations seldom gets better results. As with the team in general, D Blcok has gone green and the lack of vet leadership shows a little. When vets opt to skip the rigors of training camp--no mater the reason or the vet--I think there is an inevitable trickle down.

Probably because the team sucks... Hard to make an interesting side web show when your unit is getting blown up every week.

Td's special arrangement was the worst!! At a later age he needs more work!! Everyone only thinks he came back for a Superbowl; well the 10-12 million can buy a lot. He wasn't making half that 15 years ago!!
