Didn't really knock it out of the park or set them back as the GM and had one of the biggest draft bust on his resume, I guess that is a prerequisite to join our front office this off season.

Which draft bust?

No big deal one way or the other.

I assume he's referring to Jason Smith, who is arguably the biggest draft bust as far as an OL drafted in the 1st round in the past decade. It's one of the reasons why OL are considered "safe" picks because injuries really are the only thing that are going to prevent most 1st round picks from starting at least 50 games in their careers. Smith got only to 29, partially due to injuries, but he's now out of the league and if he gets back in, he'll just be a journeyman backup akin to Will Svitek at best.

Devaney's time in St. Louis is marred by the fact that like Dimitroff, he struggled to find playmakers outside the first 50 or so picks. And 2 of his 4 1st round picks have been mixed results. Smith was a massive bust, and Bradford didn't become the savior at QB that was initially expected. He got off to a good start, but constant change at offensive coordinator and lack of weapons surrounding him has hurt him. One can draw a lot of links between Bradford's start of his career and that of Alex Smith. Hopefully for the sake of Les Snead and Jeff Fisher, hopefully they don't have to wait until Bradford's 7th season before he turns into a viable starter. But he's already entering year 5... :so:
