Cobb just had a great run in the Miami game tonight. I loved the determination he had to not go down. Great run!!!

He's not going to clear waivers if this team decides to cut him. I just don't see it happening. I didn't see the game (I TiVoed the NFL Network replay, so I'll see it tomorrow morning), so I can't really comment on his running ability.

But based on his potential as a return specialist and how there are usually 2-3 teams looking for a good return man at this point in the year, I doubt he'll clear waivers. If he does, it probably means he showed great loyalty to this team.

But if the coaching staff keeps him, I don't see Jason Wright clearing waivers either. He's not a great runner, but pretty solid and can play special teams, which is what teams are looking for at this point.

So basically, if the Falcons decide to cut either of these guys, we may not see them ever again.

Can't the Falcons put Beck on IR this year, and won't that open up a spot to be able to keep Cobb and Wright? I don't know exactly how the IR works, but I would think they could do that, couldn't they? Thanks for the help.

We don't need both Wright and Cobb just one or the other. Cobb clearly has the advantage as a possible backup and a special teams ace. Why would we keep Wright around? Because he can block on ST? Wasted roster space if this is the case.

I disagree. Wright is a much better option IMO as a third down back. He's not much more than that, but if Dunn/Duckett went down, we could use him on offense. Cobb just isn't there yet. He has great big play potential, but I'd rather get the more reliable guy to be the backup to Dunn/Duckett.

Wright can block, catch, and run. CObb can simply run and return. ROssum is going to return kickoffs for this team from all indications by Mora. So why does Cobb make the roster?

But honestly, I think either player would work as the #3 RB. I wouldn't be uspet which one we lose. Cobb has greater upside, so it makes sense to keep him. But I think Wright gives us potentially more in 2005, so it also makes sense to keep him.

The IR basically works in that a player is done for the season. Yes, the team has the option of keeping both players, but it likely means they'll be only able to keep 6 LBs or 1 less DB than they usually keep. That does make some sense, but the team has to be sure either or both Wright/Cobb can handle ST coverage duties, because that extra LB or DB usually does that role.

I'd rather keep Marlion Jackson over either Wright or Cobb. He may not have broken any long runs, (and that run by Cobb last night was un-friggin'-believable) but he has ran hard and showed good burst. He also can play FB and block and catch. He's 6'2 240 so he's a big guy. I think as a #3 Jackson can do more than wither one of the other two players. Now I understand I am basing all of this on two games I saw him play in, and he was playing against Jax and Mia, 2-3rd teamers, but he's looked a lot better to me than any of our other options.

Also Mora said Roddy will be returning kicks too, so that is one less reason to keep Cobb.

Yea, Cobb is probably the odd man out which sucks because I would keep Cobb over Wright anyday of the week and twice on sundays.

And I'd rather have Cobb return Kicks the Rossum. Rossum is an awsome punt returner but he is a middle/lower tier KR.

The only reason we brought in Wright was the whole SanFran homerism of "familiarity with the playbook". Well how the f*** do you get players "familiar" with a playbook when you refuse to let anyone else make the team?

And Wright pisses me off. At Nothwestern he was lighnting quick, could hit the hole like lightning but he has lost all of his speed. And not counting the fact the Mora himself pretty much said the only reason why Wright is on the team is because he doesnt fumble in practice. We talkin' bout practice man.
