classy move by Chandler

i know Mora had nothing to do with Chandler not playin ATL any more

but i like that

many Atl fans did not respect him and treated him and his family very

poor his last few games here

i sorry that happened to him

but very classy of Chris to give congrats to Mora ofter the game

I always liked Chris Chandler during his tenure here in Atlanta. He was no superstar, but if you gave him time to throw, he could execute Reeves offense very well. During his best years in Atlanta, which I'd say were between 1997 and 1999, he was probably the league's best "manager" QB. You know the guys that don't particularly excite like Favre or McNair, but in the line of Dilfer in '00 in that they don't make too many mistakes, and basically rely on the running game to spearhead the offense.

I would love to see Chandler make a triumphant return to Atlanta next year, since I doubt the Rams will keep him after the season, but at age 39, he's most likely to retire. He won't go down in the annals of NFL lore, but there was a period of time during his long career, where I think he was considered to be one of the Top 10 QBs in the league.

I think it would be a very great move by Blank/Mora/McKay to sign Chandler to a brief contract so that he can retire as a Falcon. His run in Atlanta didn't end very well, the fans as you say treated him like crap for too much of it, but I think it would show the new class of this organization if Chandler retires a Falcon, where I think everyone can agree he had his best years. Sadly, one of the first moves Blank made as owner was letting go of Chandler.

I agree i would love to see that also but was it so much that Bank let him

go or that he was told by Reeves that they would not need him anymore

and would give him the chance to play some where else

i would also love to see the Falcons (if they host the game next week)

introduce them in the pregame it would get the fans and the team pump

up i would also like to see Jamal Anderson get a thank you from the fans

I was reading over an AJC article that indicated Chandler was still bitter about the whole entire thing (can you blame him?), in that he refused to interviews by the AJC.

The sad thing about it all, is that even if Chandler accepted an invite back to ATL and was introduced before/during a game, I bet he'd get booed still. Some Falcon fans are just idiots.

But I agree, getting that entire '98 Super Bowl team back here would be awesome. Almost all those players are out of the league besides:

Juran Bolden (Jaguars, although he wasn't part of the Super Bowl team he did play for us for part of the year)
Ray Buchanan (Raiders)
Chris Chandler (Rams)
Tim Dwight (Chargers)
Bob Hallen (Chargers)
Brian Kozlowski (Redskins)
Ephraim Salaam (Jaguars)
Robbie Tobeck (Seahawks)
Bob Whitfield (Jaguars)

Plus of course Brooking & Travis Hall were on that team as well. But some of those guys would probably be bitter enough from their departures in Atlanta that they may not show. I think Blank should set up a Ring of Honor thing for that entire team, all 55 or so of those players. My respect for Blank would jump up about 100 points because it shows that he respects the accomplishments (albeit rare) of the organization's past.
