Falcons send 4 to Hawaii

Postby Pudge » Thu Dec 23, 2004 2:28 pm

Keith Brooking
Michael Vick
Alge Crumpler
Patrick Kerney

All deserving of getting the nods, but I think it's unfortunate that Rod Coleman didn't go. He was snubbed by the players essentially, as he landed 2nd in the fan voting.

I will be honest, I think the Pro Bowl voting method is a farce. I personally think that voting should not begin until Week 12 of the season, while it starts somewhere around Week 6 or 7 under the current system. It basically is a popularity contest, rather than a testament of who truly are the best players in their conferences.

But I will admit, it is nice when several of your players win that popularity contest. :D

I think Rod was hurt by the fact that this is his first year in the NFC, and the guy that took his spot was La'Roi Glover, a guy that has been playing in this conference at a high level for 9 years. Glover is a good player, but I don't think he deserved to go to the PB over Coleman. I also think Coleman's injury hurt his chances as well. If Coleman puts up similiar numbers next year, I'm sure there is no doubt he will head to Hawaii. But I guess Coleman is the #1 alternate if someone goes down with injury.

I'm still scratching my head on how Jeremiah Trotter made the Pro Bowl.

I feel a bit sorry for Eric Johnson of the 49ers. Although I believe firmly that both WItten and Crumpler are better players than Johnson, neither are having better seasons IMO. Johnson, like Gates in San Diego, has been carrying the 49ers passing attack. I know you can say the same for Crump here in Atlanta, but I think Johnson is more deserving than at least Crump. It's kinda the Glover-Coleman thing with them, with Johnson being Coleman, and Crump being Glover.
