it's a rather short one so i'll just the post the whole damn thing (not that we haven't read the same stuff everywhere including this here board):

Michael Vick will never win a Super Bowl. He won't even win an NFC Championship game.

He'll keep the Falcons in the postseason for years to come, he'll keep fans entertained and he'll give game commentators and football talking heads plenty of chances to wax poetic about his abilities. But Vick can only take the Falcons so far before coming up short, and the reason he'll fail is simple: He is a terrible passing quarterback.

He's is incredibly inaccurate, and on most of the occasions he does complete a pass, he almost gets his wideout decapitated because the ball is three feet over his head. There's no doubt that Vick has a gun for an arm, but what good is it when you conjure up images of Rick Ankiel?

The biggest problem with Vick is that you expected to see some improvement by this point in his career, but that hasn't happened. Here are Vick's passing numbers this season:

12-of-23, 156 yards, 0 TD, 1 int.
11-of-19, 123 yards, 1 TD, 0 int.
15-of-27, 167 yards, 2 TD, 1 int.
6-of-8, 49 yards, 1 TD, 0 int.
11-of-23, 112 yards, 1 TD, 1 int.
11-of-26, 116 yards, 0 TD, 3 int.

Some people will use the argument that defense and a running game win Super Bowls, but most Super Bowl winners have received a decent game from their quarterback. There comes a point when the quarterback has to make a play with his arm, when he needs to complete a pass. Vick can't do that. Sorry, Falcons fans. Your signal-caller took you as far as he could last season.

Screw them all man. The funny thing is there is no repercussions for criticizing Vick, but say McNabb is overrated & you lose your job....wtf?

all this is doing is adding fuel to the fire. vick usually responds very well to criticism and most pro athletes play better with a chip on their shoulder so no biggie. i'm sure the falcons as a whole takes umbrage to the vick bashing as well. it should make them even stronger.

it's pretty funny how we get all this crap after he has a bad game, but whenever he has a good game, we dont hear anything

I feel exactly the same way. It's only after Vick struggles in the national spotlight that the flurry of criticism comes out. He'll get 2 mroe chances to disprove his critics before the playoffs in December.

Nobody has specifically noted that Vick is black in any article unlike Rush's statement. If you talk about one of the NFL's money makers and then note that they are black it will get you fired.

Horseshit. It's because of the party Rush is associated with and the stereotype everyone has of said party. If you break down what Rush said word for word he was right. Since then McNabb has shown he can throw the ball well, but not when Rush made his comments. Rush was right, and this is coming from a guy who can't stand Rush.

Every QB in this league gets bad stuff written about them. "Manning can't win the big one or win outdoors either." "Favre is old" "Rams receivers make Bulger" "Culpepper is nothing without Moss" etc. Wait until Brady has a losing season and see how the media will turn on him.

The teams that are 3rd or 4th in their conference have their QB criticized more than QB's on .500 teams.

Bad press is better than no press. Don't you think McNair and Kerry Collins who have been around would like to be noticed but aren't??

If you're point is that there is always going to be someone out there that is hating, then yes that is true. But in terms of the mainstream sports media, I don't think it's going to be a while until you see a story run about Brady being bad.

There's a huge difference between a sportswriter saying "Player X is not playing as well as hoped" and "Player X is playing downright piss-poor" or "Player X is one of the most overrated and overhyped players in the NFL!" It's too separate levels of criticism. No one is immune from some form of criticism after a bad game. Tell me, what do you think happens after Brett Favre throws 4 INTs. Do you hear the commentators on ESPN talking about how Favre has lost it his mojo? No, they applaud Favre for his risk-taking behavior, and if it's acceptable for 1 QB in this league to throw 4 INTs and win games, it is Brett Favre. The same cannot be said about Vick.

If the Patriots have a year where they go 6-10 and Brady only throws for 17 TDs and 16 INTs and they miss the playoffs, you'll get much more of "Tom Brady didn't have quite the season many expected" rather than "Tom Brady's accuracy sucks and he's so overrated" which is basically what you hear about Vick all the time.

Criticism of Manning mostly comes only from New England-based sportswriters and only one time during the year: Playoffs. Up until that point, he is praised more than any other QB in the league. And that criticism of him only comes when the Colts lose.

We may not say it the same way but I think we are close overall on this issue.

You don't have to blindly love Vick but if you are truly able to be impartial you should at least appreciate him for what he means to his team on and off the field as mentioned in previous posts.
