Urban Meyer is a drama queen

So he steps down AGAIN.

He'll be back. Maybe not in Florida, but he'll be back eventually.

 Yes Florida, thats half of D1 on the phone calling your recuits. You'd think after a 7-5 year the luster would have faded.

Urban was the only coach in the SEC not to vote for Cam as the best QB in the country and then they release to the press about the hiring of Muschamp during the Heisman Trophy show. Also wonder about the leak of the acedmics thing. Is this me being paranoid or is Urban/FL being bitter?

Hard for us AU folks to tell...we all have purple Kool Aid stains around our mouths. If the worst news comes true they'll start adding the poison and we'll all have a massive die-in at Jordan Hare Stadium.

It's interesting that after the Heisman ceremony, they played the 30 for 30 about the SMU death penalty. Obviously the Cam Newton/pay for play coinkidink was there, but they were talking about during it the "back-stabbing" that other Southwest Conference schools were doing during the 80s trying to get the NCAA to take down SMU, and it's funny that you see Florida and other SEC schools seemingly doing the same thing with Auburn this year.

Good point. My wife and I watched that as well and noted this was ESPN making some pretty unsubtle commentary following the broadcast. Doubt AU getting a death sentence would collapse the SEC though! I do think the death sentence in almost any case is too much. There were certainly some paralells with what things looked like on the outside at SMU and with Auburn--players changing their minds at the last minute and so on. This happened with Cadillac Williams long before Cam. Probably happens everywhere.

As for Meyer, you know, all kinds of people said they hated Spurrier when he was down there but I never did and I never thought that he was as petty as some of the things I've seen Meyer do. I really never put much thought to Urban or cared one way or another about him but when you look back on him he has been a bit of an ass. Freeman from CBSsportsline had an article a few days back about him saying when he met him he thought he was the cockiest coach he'd ever met. I always percieved him to be one of those kind of uber religious robot coaches...like Chizik.

I can't remember what I was watching, NFL Live or SportsCenter after the Meyer news broke, but they were talking about the Florida-New England pipeline in the draft, and how Meyer and Belichick were tight, and it made me think that they are probably the same in terms of that "air" about them.

I'm not sure of the parallels, but I imagine outside New York, there probably aren't a ton of football fans that hate Belichick. They may not like him but there is a certain degree of respect that comes with him being the best in the biz. Because of the intensity of the rivalries in the SEC, that degree of respect rarely comes into it.
