5.0 - High priority. This is a position that is a glaring weakness and there is the likelihood that this team cannot compete next year without making a major addition here.

4.0 - Medium Priority. This is an area that is an obvious weakness, but the team isn't quite desperate to make a major move here possibly because they have some young potential. But this is an area that if the team cannot fix via free agency, will definitely use one of their picks in the first three or four rounds to supplement.

3.0 - Upgrade Potential. This is a position that isn't a weakness per se, but there is significant room for an upgrade. If the right player comes along they will certainly snag him, but if they don't fix this position with a major free agent addition or early round pick, then it's not the end of the world.

2.0 - Depth Need. An area where there is a need to add depth. Perhaps there is an aging veteran and they might want to start to look at grooming his heir apparent or replacement. Not likely to be a high priority and a position that more than likely will be address in the middle and late rounds rather than with a top pick.

1.0 - Future Need. This is an area that is not a priority, and doesn't initially appear as a need. But there is some room to develop some depth for perhaps two or more years down the line. This is usually an area that a team will look at in the late rounds if at all.

0.0 - Non-need. This is a position that is a strength of their team, they have a solid starter, capable depth, and/or a young player at the position that they like and want to develop. Very little possibility this area is addressed and would be the equivalent of a wasted draft pick.

Top 7 Needs

1. CB - 3.0
2. LB - 3.0
3. RB - 2.0
4. DE - 2.0
5. S - 2.0
6. OG - 2.0
7. K - 1.5

Position by Position Breakdown

Quarterback - Due to his strong play this past year, the Eagles are likely to keep Vick for another year, but they may opt to wait on giving him the big extension, rather opting to tag him and have him and Kolb compete for the job. Kolb wants to be traded, and they may relent if a good offer comes along, but more than likely they'll keep him as a very good insurance policy in case Vick continues to struggle with injuries or falls back to earth. NEED: 0.0

Running Back - McCoy had a solid year, showing explosive playmaking ability. Harrison produced late in the year, and Buckley is a decent reserve option. Harrison might seek greener pastures which would likely result in them looking at a more powerful complement to employ behind McCoy. NEED: 2.0

Fullback - Schmitt filled in nicely when Weaver went down with injury, ending much of their concern here. NEED: 0.0

Wide Receiver - Jackson and Maclin shined as vertical threats with Vick in the lineup, and Avant continues to be one of the better No. 3 options in the league. They even got more production from Cooper than probably initially expected. If there is any concern, it's the fact that Jackson wants an extension, something they will likely grant him since it's the final year of his deal. NEED: 0.5

Tight End - Celek wasn't as favored a target by Vick as he was by McNabb, but he's still a solid tight end and about as good a fourth option as you'll find at this level. Depth may be a concern, although they still want to develop Harbor. If anything, they'll likely add a blocker here. NEED: 1.5

Offensive Tackle - Peters returned to his old form as an elite left tackle this year. Justice is capable on the right side, and Dunlap flashed some ability when he filled in at both spots, enough that he could be in direct competition with Justice next summer. If VIck retains the starting position next year, they will consider the option of flipping the tackles to better protect him. NEED: 0.5

Offensive Guard - Herremans has been a capable starter for a few years now, and has two years left on his deal. Jean-Gilles has had his bouts of inconsistency, but put together a solid year. Cole probably won't be a priority to retain as a free agent. But they could look to shore up depth and add insurance since injuries have taken their toll at this spot in recent years. NEED: 2.0

Center - McGlynn had a nice season filling in for Jackson who is expected to be 100% after a triceps injury cost him almost the entire year. They could add another body for depth, but it's not a major need. NEED: 1.0

Defensive Tackle - Bunkley is entering a contract year, but their concern is minimized at this point due to the emergence of Antonio Dixon and Trevor Laws making strides last year. They could add another body here since they aren't expecting to get much out of Jeff Owens because knee injuries might cost him his career, but it'll only be a late round option in the draft. NEED: 0.5

Defensive End - They want to upgrade their pass rush, but they are hopeful that the changes made on the coaching staff will invigorate Graham and Sapp, who both missed most of the year with knee injuries. Parker is a serviceable vet but will be 33 going into the final year of his contract. Tapp fills a similar niche, but didn't have as productive a first year in Philly as hoped. They could add more help in the draft, but they have enough young bodies that it won't be a priority. NEED: 2.0

Linebacker - The Eagles chose not to commit long-term to any of their linebackers before this season under the hopes that in a year's time the murky situation here would be improved. It has...somewhat. Bradley and Sims are both free agents, but only Bradley is really expected to return. He'll likely move back outside with the emergence of Chaney towards the end of the year. That'll push Fokou to a backup spot, which he is better suited for. Gaither and Jordan are both free agents, neither of which will be high priorities to return. Gaither can play all three positions, but they've soured on him in recent years, and Jordan is the more likelier of the two to return. They'll likely add some depth behind Chaney inside, as well as bring in another option on the outside to compete to replace Sims. They'd love to get a top WILL option in the draft. NEED: 3.0

Cornerback - Patterson had his moments as a replacement for Hobbs who went down with injury, but both seem suited coming off the bench rather than being starters. Hanson is a good nickel corner, but isn't really considered a strong option to start. Hobbs is talking retirement as he hits the open market coming off a neck injury, so he probably won't be bac. They want to find another starter opposite Samuel. NEED: 3.0

Safety - When Allen was healthy, he showed enough to think he might be a fixture here for the future. But a late season knee injury means that there is a need for some insurance. Marlin Jackson could be that player, but he's coming off an Achilles injury. Kurt Coleman is their best insurance policy as he flashed ability in limited duty, but they might add a veteran to buoy that spot. Mikell is a free agent and he's going to be 31 this year, but they should bring him back since he's been consistently good for years. If not, then they have a major need at strong safety. NEED: 2.0

Kicker - Akers is a free agent, and his struggles in the playoffs certainly didn't increase the odds that the 36-year old will return. But he's been fairly consistent at being good, although no longer great. They might look in a new direction, but the smarter move might be to re-sign him and bring in a young guy to push him. NEED: 1.5

Punter - Rocca is also a free agent, and while he's only played four years, the Aussie will be 37 this year, and they might also go with a youth movement here. NEED: 1.5
