so. let me get this straight. the Royals and Orioles spent # 15 and #19 in a field of 30 teams.

the Cardinals spent just a tad bit more then the Braves ( they are 13 were 14) and the 'biggest'
spender was the SF Giants, who ranked #7.

That means ...ho hum....

1. LA Dodgers $235,295,219
2. NY Yankees $203,812,506
3. Philadelphia Phillies $180,052,723
4. Boston Red Sox $162,817,411
5. Detroit Tigers$155,692,000
6. LA Angels $155,692,000

ALL these teams are out, again.

we can keep doing this every year. Freedom always trumps restriction in fair and open markets.

look at the playoff scenarios since post 'steroids' ( say 1999-2000) in the MLB vs the NFL..

how much hope do the Raiders, Jacksonville, BUffalo or...US have to make the playoffs, let alone win?

yet, again and again and again teams that spend HALF of the 'powers that be' can at least have 'hope' that they can get in the playoffs.

best intentions. what was supposed to make the playing field 'level' has had the opposite effect.

class is dismissed until next season

This is an anomaly........ If you look at the last 20 years your argument falls apart, of course I think you know that and are joking? Anyways here's a good article showing just how unfair it has been.

anomaly?

look, you can 'cherrypick' stats all day, but Im only looking at the results from 2000 on. This clown is looking back 20 years! You know what happened in the 90's?

a strike

and

wait for it

STEROIDS.

from the article:

In the last 18 years of World Series, the team with the highest player payroll has won four times, all of them have been the New York Yankees. They did it in 1996, 1999, 2000, and 2009. The second ranked teams in player payroll have won the World Series three times in the last 18 years: the New York Yankees in 1998 and the Boston Red Sox in 2007 and 2004.

get that?

so....looking at that stat, take out the 90's and extrapolate the *results* since 2000 on ( when they banned the roids)

that means for 14 seasons, the team that not only outspent EVERY OTHER TEAM but did it by a LARGE margin won TWO titles. Out of 14! That means for every one time they won, seven other teams won spending less. Often, MUCH less.

Now, look over the NFL from 2000 on, and get back to me.

Freedom trumps restriction every time, and nature always bats last
