Nice read.

DeSean Jackson?

Yes, I know it's a bad idea. But just let me imagine a completely hypothetical scenario for a moment that has no basis in reality whatsoever...

Imagine a world where DeSean Jackson doesn't demand a contract that pays him between $10M/yr. with $20-25M guaranteed. Instead imagine a world where he is willing to settle for $7M/yr. with like $8-10M guaranteed, which for the record is only slightly more guaranteed money than we paid Jenkins.

Then imagine a world where the Eagles, so desperate to move Jackson are willing to accept a 2nd round pick rather than the typical 1st round compensation for the franchise tagged Jackson.

Then imagine that the Falcons decide that they are going all-in with a dynamic spread offense. They hire a new OC (Gus Malzohn or somebody!) that really understands the spread attack and the strengths and weaknesses of this current (and future personnel). We're going to run a base 3-WR offense with Jones & Roddy on the outside, Jackson in the slot. And we're going to throw the ball a lot. And to offset the running game, guys like Jones & Jackson are going to get a lot of carries on end-arounds. We're going to run some wildcat, we're going to get these guys in space, and be dynamic with bubble screens, and teams aren't going to have a clue for the most part what is coming at them each Sunday. Jackson essentially fills a combo role that combines what Percy Harvin/Devin Hester/Josh Cribbs are for their respective teams. They even name a brand new position for him, called like the "X-Factor" and this takes the NFL by storm.

And then imagine that Mike Smith is so good a coach that he can manage the egos and get Jackson to buckle down and be more about the team rather than the showboating, me-first player he's always been.

:drugged:

Never been a fan of this guy, and I think he might have attituded his way out of a big deal. He's an alligator armed, 9 route premadonna. His concussion history is sorta aiken to Jahvid Best's also, so you'd worrry there on a long term deal also. W/ Roddy and JJ, we're better off keeping Douglas and fixing the scheme. Mahlzan took a HC gig somewhere, and I don't believe it was a good gig. One of his disciples is whose running the Clemson offense, and that guy was a high school coach LAST YEAR. So that just goes to show you how adjustable an offense can be, and how much we're not even doing things sophisticated high school coordinators are doing.
