Cam Newton Drive being shot down by Atlanta citizens

A tightly knit band of Atlanta citizens are pumping the brakes on plans to rename their street Cam Newton Drive, after the Carolina Panthers quarterback.

Residents of Scarborough Road in south Fulton argued at a public hearing last week that Newton, 23, is simply too young to have a street named after him, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Tuesday. Others cited the cost of revising personal records. Others were simply Falcons fans, we imagine, but that's unconfirmed.

One woman cited Newton's theft arrest in 2008 and past drama surrounding his father, who allegedly solicited money from a university attempting to recruit the quarterback.

South Fulton Commissioner Bill Edwards argued that Newton, who went to nearby Westlake High, is an example of someone who "beat the odds." These folks aren't buying it. Another public hearing on the matter will take place Tuesday night, but for now, Cam Newton Drive exists only in dreams.

The fact that he plays for a rival of the Falcons anybody inside the metro Atlanta area trying to get a street named after him should be put out to pasture.

If the Panthers make the playoffs, and the Falcons don't, there are going to be a lot of so-called Falcon fans that are going to in secret worship the altar that is Cam Newton.

If the Falcons dont make the playoffs and the Panthers make it to the tourney I will release the image I have of Cam Newton pissing on the American Flag and Bible while taking a drag out of a bong while betting money at a Bad Newz Kennelz sponsored dog fight.
