Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith continues to do nothing to diminish the hype surrounding Jacquizz Rodgers in fantasy circles. The change-of-pace back to the bullish Michael Turner, Rodgers appears poised to take on a much bigger role this season, according to the Altanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter.

"Jacquizz is a player that we've got to get him some touches," Smith said after Tuesday's practice. "We found out very early once we got him here that he is not a change-of-pace back. He's a guy who can do all the things that you ask a running back to do. You go out and perform and when he's had his opportunities, he's done a nice job.

"It is obvious that we need to try to get him the football. Again, it's tough a chore sometimes based on how teams are trying to defend us and the guys we have on offense."

Turner is now 30 years old, has 1,417 career carries and appeared a bit slow-footed late last season. Smith already has said he wants to curtail Turner's workload, and since the RB has just 51 total receptions for his career, he could see a large decrease in touches if the Falcons fully commit to the passing game this season -- and that could open the door for Rodgers to bust loose. Rodgers is an excellent late-round flier in PPR fantasy leagues.

What about trading Turner to the Lions a since they're in the RB market and put Quizz as starter? Just a thought.

I don't understand any hype? We'll see what he does during the season......8 carries,
40 yards and maybe 20 yards through the air? It will look good on paper.

It's great how stuff becomes "news" or "factual." Ledbetter copies down the company line, publishes it, ESPN picks it up and re-publishes it and, voila, facts! I wonder if their is a worse NFL beat writer in the country? We have had some pretty decent ones before but this guy is like one of those horrible SNL characters in a five minute skit that should only last 30 seconds or less.
