If Julio makes that catch, and there's decent coverage on Stokely when Manning is under pressure on 3rd down...the Falcons are up 14-0 and have the ball.

Luckily McClain got another INT. But when playing a QB like Manning...these gifts won't last and he'll get settled.

Falcons look great but really need to capitalize. Interesting seeing Nolan mix up packages. I hope to see a fake screen (to Julio) and go deep as the D attacks the screen.

The D at least looks interesting. Definitely gameplan for the QB which is a nice change of pace.

Good win. ATL typically comes up short in emotional MNF games, and they held on.

Good:
The pass protection was fantastic against one of the better pass-rushing Ds in the game.

DeCoud and Moore, especially Moore. What a great game.

Ryan looked great, and the game would have been easily been higher scoring if Julio and Tony catch the ball a few more times.


Robert McClain and Dom Franks stepped up.


Mike Nolan and Dirk Koetter. MM and BVG lose this game.

Honorable mention: Bill Polian, who correctly brought up Nolan's scheme against Manning, which resulted in two of those three picks.

bad:
Turner looks done, done, done. I'm glad he picked up the clinching first down, but the looseness of the ball on the two almost-fumbles and his utter lack of burst are clearly issues. The run blocking hasn't improved from last year, but I'm not real sure how ATL is going to mount a running game this year.

Jones' hands. Yikes. ESPN only had him with with two incompletions, but I saw him drop three catchable balls.

I will add, Spoon and Nicholas are proving to be fantastic thus far. I really enjoyed what I saw from our defense tonight.

Shades of the 2011 Giants, who couldn't run the ball to save their life. I think the Falcons will be the same throughout this year, where their O-line and Turner will not be able to get any real push to have a consistent, or reliable ground attack. We're at their 1 and it takes 3 tries to get in. That sums it all up perfectly.

The question really becomes how quickly and how effectively will the Falcons adjust to living without a running game.

I hope they steal the shotgun power run from the Broncos. But, through 2 games, our OL opens no holes, and Turner looks done (which is no surprise). A Konz C/new OG pairing needs to occur. The line simply can't get push (and Turner has never been a back who can "create")

You nailed it on the head on the pros and cons of the game. Also how about Stephen Nicholas, he really played another fantastic game. He might be finally showing something other than being an average linebacker.
