NFR: Defense Wins Championships, or ...

Postby RobertAP » Sun Feb 02, 2014 10:18 pm

Perhaps Peyton Manning just blows in the big game. Frankly, the Seahawks defense was dominating, as they had been all year. With the young guys that we have in the secondary, and at LB, we could end up with a very stout defense if we can find some linemen who can pull their weight.

Yes, I think it was more about SEA than Manning having a bad game though he did have one. The two teams looked to be running at dif speeds and SEA just brings the wood play after play. DEN looked tight from the opening KO and their dink and dunk reminded me of our O when we cannot pass protect...which is usually. Peyton not under half the duress MR had all year. Feel bad for him. He cannot have too many more seasons left in him. Russ Wilson was mighty impressive himself--accurate, smart, elusive, calm.

Hopefully Pudge watched this game and will now realize that Falcons need to improve their defense instead of harping on how they need to work on the offensive line.

Seriously, maybe the Falcons will look more closely at their joke of a defense.

When has Pudge claimed that the defense didn't need any work? If I remember correctly, he has posted a few times how both the offensive and defensive lines need to be addressed heavily this offseason.

Seattle has the benefit, of not having to pay a 1/6 of their cap on the QB position, thus allowing them to build up elsewhere.

If we had an offensive minded coach, who attacked opposing defenses, then Ryan + Julio would be a fantastic pairing, worth the money spent. But since we're a dink and dunk offense with an occasional long pass, we really have no business tying up most of our salary cap in two players. If we're going to keep Smith, we'd be much better served dumping Ryan and Julio and investing heavily in the OL and DL.

It was a joke and Pudge obviously got it.

I have been saying that the Falcons have a very poor defense and need to put a lot of resources into fixing it. If the Falcons had the Seattle defense, then no one would be talking about the OL.

We were next to last in sacks for the league last year....... Now how do you get defensive linemen when you need Offensive linemen almost as much??
