Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? I take it you aren't a Beck fan?

It is sad, Beck showed a lot of promise. Now we don't have a back-up mlb, except for Reese if that's how we go with it...do we have any other guys on out roster that will step up???

That is why I posted it. Beck is more than cannon fodder, he was standing out in special team play (that according to Mora) and he was Hartwell's back up. If Hartwell goes down or needs a blow, the defense, namely the LB's now suddenly have to change dramatically.

Well since Keith has played MLB we could just shift him to MLB and use Reese/DeMo/Boley on the wings. Boley could play MLB also:

Boley: 6'3" 236lbs
Beck: 6'2" 233lbs
Hartwell: 6'1" 250lbs

Heck he's even a little bit bigger.

That's a good idea. I would put Reese as 2nd on the depth chart at any LB spot if he isn't starting. The guy has been an animal all preseason and I am at a loss as to why he isn't starting somewhere.

Reese is more than an adequate backup MLB. I think that Reese has the run-stopping instincts to be fine in the middle. So much so that if Reese and Beck had been in an open competition for the MLB spot, Reese would have beat out Beck.

Although he made a good play on the INT, Beck is not ready as far as coverage goes to be more than a 2-down player. Ike can play all 3 downs.

The benefit of our top LBs is that several of them can play multiple positions. The assumption is that if Hartwell did go down for a long period of time, I suspect the Falcons would slide Brooking over to the middle and start Reese at WLB. Reese can play all 3 spots. Brooking can play MLB and WLB, and I believe D-mo can play all 3 spots too.

I think as far as depth goes, we'll only have an issue if more than 1 guy is hurt. Losing Beck hurts special teams, but I think guys like Cash or Michael Brown can pick up there too.

That would be my guess as well...

I don't think DeMo could play the middle. I'm not sure he has the instincts or the tackling needed for MLB. DeMo excels at coverage and getting to the QB and nothing else.

I think D-mo would be alright in the middle. He doesn't have great instincts, but I think he has more than enough speed to cover up some of those mistakes. Would he be a star MLB? No, but in a cover-2 scheme like the Bucs employ, I think he'd be a pretty good starter
