Jimmy Farris had 4 catches and 2 TDs against the Ravens tonight. He played a pretty good game. But there is still concern if he is going to be released. I'm not completely up on how many receivers the Redskins will keep, but they already have James Thrash on the roster, and he's a solid ST coverage guy.

If they do cut Farris, I'd bet you that the Falcons will dump whomever (Magner, Pettis, etc.) and re-sign him.

Farris has some experiece and as a 5th receiver would fitv the bill.Magner isn't playing well and when your an unknown you have to show up every game.I will keep a look out for Farris.

Despite all the hype that has gone into Cole Magner, IMO, he hasn't shown me anything that would indicate he's a better receiver than Jimmy Farris. Farris couldn't be confused with a #3 guy, but when he played, he produced IMO.

If you take into account, his numbers from 2003 regular season, 2004 preseason, and this past preseason, they indicate he has a knack for finding the endzone. Combined those numbers are:

17 catches
309 yards
18.2 avg
5 touchdowns

I know you can't rely on those numbers to accurately show how good Farris is, but those are pretty damn good numbers, when you factor in thats it equates to probably like half a dozen games of actual playing time.

I'm not exactly sure why the Falcons got rid of Farris. We cut him right after the draft, and my assumption was because the team wanted to make sure Roddy White had a roster spot. Because as long as Farris is in camp with this team, I see him making the roster every year (same goes for Finneran), since he's so valuable a role player.

So as far as I'm concerned, I'm hoping Farris is cut and the Falcons are able to get him (although it's probably doubtful because we have low waiver priority).

Other outside options would be:

The Chiefs just cut Darrell Hill this past week, who's spent almost his entire NFL career as a ST receiver.

If the Cowboys cut Terrance Copper, or the Saints Talman Gardner, both of whom have proven themselves as ST guys as well, they would be other options in case Farris is not cut and the team isn't happy with Magner or anybody else.

Jimmy Farris was actually cut today by the Redskins.

Hey guys-long time reader of old ESPN board Dirty, Cappy you guys rule.
A little off the Jimmy Farris subject kind of but- What do you guys think of Romby Bryant ???

This seems like a temporary solution for the #5 receiver position. Bryant didn't really stand out to me in preseason as either a receiver or in coverage. I don't see why he made the roster over any of the other 3 guys.
