I wonder if Carpenter is going to actually haul in a INT this week. Every week towards the beginning of the game he cuts a route and then the ball just bounces off his hands...If he starts pulling those in we will be in great shape...

He will. He has always had a knack for being in the right place & making big plays. I would expect him to get 4-5 picks this year.
Props to Scar for my sig.

I recall the last year that Carpenter was the full time starter at FS (back in 2002) there were at least 3 interceptions that I saw (and I only saw maybe 6-8 games that year) that he dropped.

He has terrible hands, and his dropped INT would have turned into a TD had he held onto the ball. He'll drop at least another 3-5 this year. He'll still probably get 3 or 4 this year, but I think that he's capable of doubling that.

That machine they use in training camp for WRs to work on their hands, they need to work Carpenter on one of those things for 2 hours each day of practice.

New England's coach tosses bricks to linebackers

Postby thescout » Fri Sep 30, 2005 2:50 am

I saw a segment on ESPN where the new england coach tosses bricks at his linebackers and they can't drop them or else they do push ups.He throws them where they turn over and throw them hard not slow....Maybe this is what Carpenter should practice since he could cost the falcon's the game with one of those dropped interceptions.

We really need those INTs. Mora and the Falcons love to win games by less than 4 points and at some point that will turn on us and we will start losing those games. Those extra 7 points (either scored from an INT, or taken away from a team going in to score) will end up meaning a 9-7 team vs a 12-4 team.

Keion has always been a somewhat streaky player. In his 6 year career he's had three seasons with interceptions (99 and 04 he barely if at all played).

2000: 5 INT's
2002: 4 INT's
2003: 3 INT's

2001 is the only point in his career were he started the majority of games and didn't nab an INT. Carp has never had a sack which I find surprising.

Not to mention he is horrible against the run imo.
