Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports the Atlanta Falcons are believed to be the frontrunners to acquire free agent LB Ed Hartwell (Ravens), according to Hartwell's agent Harold Lewis. Another undisclosed suitor is also believed to be pursuing Hartwell.

This would be a great move. Hartwell has shined in the 3-4 the past few years, but I believe he's the solid run stopping MLB that can really do good things in the 4-3 as well. He's tough and fiesty and really does remind me a lot of Ray Lewis. This would be an awesome move if we can get him.

It would likely mean that Chris Draft will be cut in June. The Falcons could save $1.2 million if he is cut then, or could save about $875,000 if he's cut now.

Draft's ability as depth is not as needed since both Keith Brooking and Ike Reese can play that position, and I also think that Demorrio can move inside.

I think Hartwell would a terrific upgrade for our LB corp. He is essentially as good as Brooking skill-level-wise, yet he is more of the run-stuffer type of LB where Keith is better in the open. Combine their strengths with those of D Williams and Reese, and we have a very strong and versatile group of LBs. McKay will likely add to that group in the draft as well. I hate to lose Draft because he plays with a lot of heart and leadership, but he is not the same player talent-wise that Hartwell is. We'll see what McKay can work out.

i really love to see Hartwell in Falcons unifome but the chances to get him are very very

very small. This guy and his agent Harold Lewis will be on the road again to find a new

home for him .They certainly go at Cleveland to the meet Browns.(kffl)

And another bad news Keith Adams resigned with the Eagles

Yes, I think Hartwell is also looking very hard at Cleveland, and one would assume they have a much better cap situation to offer more money.
