D. Orlando Ledbetter of the AJC reports
that Falcons wide receiver and fifth round selection Kerry Meier has agreed to terms with the Falcons on a four-year contract worth around $1.947 million. That indicates that Meier has received a signing bonus of $157,000. Meier was a fifth round pick taken by the Falcons this past April out of Kansas.

Meier was very productive the past two seasons in Kansas’ spread attack. He combined for 199 catches, 2030 yards, and 16 touchdowns in that span, after beginning his career as a Wildcat at quarterback. Meier is expected to compete for a reserve role at wide receiver for the Falcons.

The signing of Meier means that the Falcons only have one unsigned draft pick left: top pick Sean Weatherspoon. The Falcons players are supposed to report to camp on July 29. Thus far, none of the league’s first round picks have signed to date.

Thats kind of a crappy deal, 4 years, not even 2 mill? Geesh! I know when he becomes productive he’s gonna hold out.

    • Holdout? Unless he has a 1000-yard season within the next 2 years, he’s not going to be holding out. He’ll play out his contract and if he produces enough, then he’ll get a more lucrative contract in 4 years. That’s the way it works in the NFL.
