Andre Roberts was born on January 9, 1988 in Columbia, SC where he graduated from Spring Valley High. As a true freshman at The Citadel, he started two of 11 games at the "Z" receiver. He finished the season with a team-leading 557 receiving yards and five scores on 35 catches (15.9 avg). He also rushed for 43 yards on four carries and returned 18 punts for 193 yards (10.7 avg). He ran track the following spring, earning All-Southern Conference honors as the anchor on the 4x100 meter relay team, while also contributing in the 200 and 400 meter races. He started all 11 games as "Z" as a sophomore, setting a school record with 78 receptions. He also added 1,060 receiving yards (13.6 avg) and 10 touchdowns, while rushing six times for one yard (0.2 avg). He returned 27 punts for 289 yards (10.7 avg). He earned second-team honors both for All-Southern Conference team and FCS All-American team. During his junior season, he started all 12 games at "X" receiver, shattering his previous school record with 95 receptions for 1,334 yards (14.0) and 14 touchdowns, another school record. His reception total finished second in the nation that season, earning him first-team All-Southern Conference and second-team All-American honors for the second consecutive season. He also added 24 rush attempts for 94 yards (3.9 avg) and another score, returning two kickoffs for 31 yards (15.5 avg) and 24 punts for a school-record 461 yards (19.2 avg) and tied the school record with three touchdowns. He also completed a single pass attempt for 15 yards that year. His abilities made him a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the best player in FCS football. As a senior, he started 10 of 11 games at flanker, catching a team-leading 77 passes for 792 yards (10.3 avg) and eight touchdowns. He also rushed for 77 yards on 12 carries (6.4 avg), returned three kickoffs for 66 yards (22.0 avg) and returned 14 punts for 217 yards (15.5 avg). He earned first-team All-Southern honors for the second year in a row. Finished his career with school records in receptions (285), receiving yards (3,743), receiving touchdowns (37) and all-purpose yards (5,215). He was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round (88th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.
