Bruce Edward Daniels, Jr. was born on October 24, 1989 in Tallahassee, FL and attended Lincoln High School. He played in two games as a true freshman, completing four of five passes (80.0%) for 86 yards and rushing for two yards on three carries. He also played basketball at USF in 19 games, averaging 0.5 points, 0.4 rebound, 0.1 assists and 0.2 steals per game while averaging 2.8 minutes per game. He was granted a redshirt year and wound up starting 10 of 13 games the following year after the starter went down early with injury. He earned a 5-5 record as a starter, completing 122 of 227 (53.7%) of his passes for 1,983 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 772 yards on 175 carries (4.4 avg) and nine touchdowns. As a redshirt sophomore, he started 12 games earning an 8-4 record as a starter. He missed one game due to a hamstring injury. He finished the year completing 143 of 245 (58.4%) passes for 1,685 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also rushed for 259 yards on 112 carries (2.3 avg) and five touchdowns, while also returning a kickoff for zero yards. As a junior he started all 11 games he appeared and earned a 5-6 record as a starter. He missed a single game due to a shoulder injury. He finished the year completing 215 of 365 (58.9%) passes for 2,604 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 601 yards on 132 carries (4.6 avg) and six touchdowns. His senior season he started nine games before missing the rest of the season with a broken left ankle, earning a 3-6 record as a starter. He finished the year completing 165 of 290 (56.9%) passes for 2,075 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, while rushing for 434 yards on 104 attempts (4.2 avg) and five more scores. He finished his career as USF’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns (25) and tied for the lead in passing touchdowns (52). He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round (237th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
