Blake Richard Muir was born on May 10, 1991 in Sydney, Australia where attended Kirrawee High School before enrolling at the University of Hawaii. As a redshirt freshman he started all 12 games at left tackle for the Rainbow Warriors, earning Academic All-Mountain West honors before transferring to Baylor University. After sitting out a year he earned the starting left guard spot at Baylor, logging 12 starts in 13 games as a junior. He earned Academic All-Big 12 as well as honorable mention All-Big 12 honors. As a senior he started in all 13 games, logging 12 starts at left guard before injuries forced him to start the season finale at right tackle. He earned Academic All-Big 12 honors for the second consecutive year. He was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft.
