Damontae T. Kazee was born on June 5, 1993 in San Bernardino, CA where he attended Cajon High School. As a redshirt freshman at San Diego State, he appeared in 12 games, recording 41 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, two pass breakups, four forced fumbles and a blocked kick. He assumed the starting right cornerback spot as a sophomore for all 13 games. He finished the year with 58 tackles, four for loss, one interception, 13 pass breakups and a fumble recovery on his way to earn second team All-Mountain West honors. As a junior he started all 14 games at right cornerback, recording career highs of 75 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and eight interceptions on his way to first team All-MWC honors as well as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year honors. He also added a pair of touchdowns, one on an interception return and the other as a punt returner. He totalled 70 yards on five punt returns (14.0 avg) and also broke up seven passes. His senior season saw him start all 14 games once more at right cornerback, recording 65 tackles, three for loss, seven interceptions (including another returned for a touchdown) and eight pass breakups. He earned first team All-MWC and MWC Defensive PLayer of the Year honors for the second year in a row. He finished his career at San Diego State with 17 interceptions, setting the school's all-time mark. He was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round (149th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.
